I do my best to reduce, reuse, and recycle because it's good for the planet and also because it saves money. I have recently started a compost heap and it makes me feel good to use all my leftover veggie waste and turn it into fertilizer. I paid a lot of money for that stuff, so I am happy to get the most out of it. I also started using more cloth napkins and towels to cut down on my paper towel use. That saves me probably $10-$20 a month (more for video poker). I stopped buying paper coffee filters and bought a re-usable one. I freeze all my chicken bones and then boil them to make stock for soup then after it's done and drained, I pick off all the good meaty bits for my dog.

Thanks so much. I am a Mississippi native and a born earth girl. We used to farm and only used what we ate recycling everything down to apple peals, using it for pig food. When i fix food for the kids i use real plates and not paper. I also make sure to only fix as much food as i think they will eat, freezing left overs for later. What a great idea for a contest.

Thank you for the contest! I believe that Earth Day is very important and should get as much recognition as possible!

I try to recycle as much as I can, including clothing and household items. I don't throw away anything that could be used by a different person or family. I try my best to fix things when possible, rather than throw them away and get something new.

Thanks for the contest! We recycle cans and bottles, and we have separate bins for trash and recycle items. We rarely use paper plates or paper towels. Every little bit helps!

We have always recycled water bottles and cans, we use to do it for the extra money but now we just do it to do our part. Our garbage company gave up an extra big garbage bin to put all stuff recyclable in it which makes it alot easier now for us. Actually everyone got an extra big bin , it is the size of the garbage bin. smile
