Well it was my first experience. I heard what it's like, but I just wanted to see it in person, now I know. But I would never camp out or get in those long lines.

My husband and I along with the kids spend x-mas day at home and have our dinner and present opening by ourselves. Then in january, everyone comes up to our place and visit. I make ham and all the nummy trimmings while the guys gather outside to deep fry a turkey. Then we all eat and open up presents that we got for the name drawing secret santa. We will have one or two of them that get drunk, so after cleaning up again, we usually sit around and make fun of them... lol... Have a safe and happy holiday all!!!

I have no family basically, because of reasons I would not change for the world. I only speak with my mother, everyone else wrote me off 13 years ago. My father passed this year also so this time is tough however, my fiance's family is and has always been very welcoming to me and everyone else in their lives.

So this has become our tradition for 6 years now.

Every year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving is our Annual Cousins Christmas Party. Each year is different food wise, last year was Italian, this year was pot luck. Over 100 people in one house, tons of children who get a visit from Santa with a gift for each one. Instead of the adults gifting each other, we all decided on purchasing a toy for donation to Toys for Tots. We collected and dropped off 70 toys this year. There were arts and crafts holiday style for entertaining the kiddos too. Every year we all look forward to this get together because family tends to stray away with busy life stuff.
Already excited about next year because this year there were 22 kids under 18, and next year we will have 3 newborns!
Spending time with family and giving to those less fortunate, I cant think of a better way to spend the holidays.

One of my favorite traditions is bundling up and heading out in the car for a tour of all the great Christmas light displays around town and then coming home for hot chocolate in front of the fireplace. smile

When I read all these posts, I get so warm and fuzzy inside. Unfortunately this Christmas is going to be a bad one. Well I guess I can't say that, I do get to spend it with my amazing fiance and my dog. But I won't be with my family. As a young girl, I can always remember there being a house full of people and the Christmas spirit was high. I would laugh and play with my cousins while my parents got to spend time with their brothers and sisters. I really miss those Christmases and I would give anything to be able to have one like that again. Me and my Fiance were supposed to go and pick out our rings this Christmas, well on my birthday (the 22nd) but we won't be able to because money is so tight. We only want something inexpensive too, we are firm believers that a huge wedding is just a waste of money. Even if we could afford it, I think we would buy something inexpensive and give some to charity. That is just the way we are. It breaks my heart but I know I should be thankful for all that I do have. I am sorry for bringing some sad story here but I wanted to share it somewhere and I kinda feel at home here.
I hope everyone's Christmas is very happy and healthy and may Santa be good to you smile xo

when i was little my aunt, mary noel, gave me, kristin noel, the story of the santa mouse. i have read it every year. when i had my daughter, jessica noel, i gave that same tattered book to her. We sit together and read it every year. when we finish we set out santa's cookies, carrots, and a small hunk of cheese. santa always writes a thank you, with a small cumb of cheese next to a small paw print. Xmas morning that is the first thing we check.
