Bleeding Heart Meatloaf
Individual meatloaves cook faster - and the Pumkin shape is perfect for Holloween. Have fun hiding the surprise inside and watch everyone's face as they bite in. This recipe makes four individual meatloaves.

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon dried onion
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup cold water
Cherry pie filling (you won't need the whole can)
Equipment:
Mixing bowl
Baking pan
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix the beef, a little salt and pepper, onion, bread crumbs and water with your hands (yuck!).

Divide meatloaf mixture into eight equal pieces, shape each piece into a flateened pumpkin shape.

Put 4 of the pumkins in a baking dish.

Place three cherries and a little of the liquid from the cherry pie filling in the center of each.

Top each heart with another pumkin, making sure you seal the edges to keep the surprise inside.

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

Slimy Green Smores
Here's a yummie treat that's fun to eat, and it takes no time at all to prepare.

What you'll need:

Graham crackers (not crumbs)

Marshmallows

Chocolate bar

Green food colouring

What to do:

Soak your marshmallows in the food colouring until they turn green

Place a piece of chocolate on the graham cracker and put your green slimy marshmallow on top.

Place smore in microwave and heat on high for 1 minute or until your marshmallow and chocolate have melted.

Boogers on a Stick

8 ounce Jar cheez whiz
3 or 4 drops Green food coloring
3 dozen pretzel sticks

Melt cheeze whiz in the microwave according to jar directions. Allow the cheese to cool slightly in the jar. Carefully stir in food coloring using just enough to turn the cheese a pale snot green. To form boogers: Dip and twist the tip of each prtezel stick into the cheese, lift out, wait twenty seconds, then dip again. When cheese lumps reach a boogerish size, set pretzels boogerd on wax paper to cool.

Kitty Litter Cake

1 spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 white cake mix
1 large pkg vanilla instant pudding mix
1 pkg vanilla sandwich cookies
Green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls
1 new (and definitely unused) kitty litter pan
1 new plastic kitty litter pan liner
1 new Pooper Scooper

Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (any size pans). Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble. Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in food processor, scraping often. Set aside all but about 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops green food coloring and mix using 5. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with half the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. (Mix in just enough of the pudding to moisten it. You don't want it soggy. Combine gently).

Line new, clean kitty litter box. Put mixture into litter box. Put three unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls and bury in mixture. Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top.

Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top. (This is supposed to look like the chlorophyll in kitty litter.) Heat 3 Tootsie Rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake; sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Spread remaining Tootsie Rolls over the top; take one and heat until pliable, hang it over the side of the kitty litter box, sprinkling it lightly with cookie crumbs. Place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the cookie crumbs around.

THE WITCHE'S BROOMSTICK:

The Witch is a central symbol of Halloween. The name comes from the Saxon wica - meaning "the wise one". When setting out for a Sabbath, witches rubbed a sacred ointment onto their skin. This gave them a feeling of flying (sounds like a good drug to me) anyway, some witches rode on horseback, but poor witches went on foot and carried a broom or a pole to aid in vaulting over streams. In England when new witches were initiated they were often blindfolded, smeared with "flying ointment" and placed on a broomstick. The ointment would confuse the mind, speed up the pulse and numb the feet. When they were told "you are flying over land and sea" the witch took their word for it.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE - AND TO THE TEAM AT NLN!!
