spyda757, they say that a machine or a game does
not remember the last hand or the last spin.. so if you hit a Royal
flush one hand the next time the odds are the same you will hit the Royal
although the probability has decreased
That is what they say.. but as a gambler, especially from
my Vegas days, I feel there are hot machines and cold machines...
I think the root of your question is if I am playing a slot,
but I log out and log back into play the same slot game.. is it
like being back on the "same machine" ... for this I really do
not know but will be happy to ask a few of the casinos
if you want.. If they all tell me the same thing I guess
we could consider their answer..
The best advice I can give is play video poker, as the percents
of winning are always higher on VP than slots
They call slots the one arm bandit for a reason.. that does
not keep me from playing them though, because I like them
and I know gambling is just for entertainment.. and I will
loose eventually even if I play a 99% payback game like
blackjack

voodookitty, Yes.. but when you ask a casino
they usally give you all this tech stuff I really can not
comprehend.. I will try to get some comments though
Meanwhile.. I think I have posted this a few times before
but thought about it again after reading this..
I was at a conference once and a drunk casino owner let
a few things slip... basically a small comment about
playing times or the amount of people playing something.
He quickly realized he was talking to the wrong person when
I started quizzing him and did not give much info, shut right up..
BUT.. Now I try to play really early in the morning and on off
peak times and when new games come out..
and of course other times too..
ops:
BUT OBVIOUSLY I have not been winning squat lately, so it clearly does
not help!

I know on the boat i use to go to after hitting a jackpotthry had who won spin one time to see if it hit again so they would not have to come right back so they do hit right after I have seen it done.

jovida, you are correct. I hit on jackpot at a casino and after all the woohoo's died down and they paid me, they made me respin. Hit two red 7's and a wild cherry and they made me spin it off.
Supposedly all this stuff is governed by random numbers generators. But who knows. I know some days machines at one casino online or land will be hot and the next cold as a dead fish. And lately mine have been in the freezer!!!

I BELIEVE after a BIG SPIN/HAND, land casino, online casino or
casino on Mars, it is COMPULSORY to take at least 10 spins
because I have see too many things hit back to back or very close.
It makes me throw up on the floor when I leave a machine
and the next person hits.. I have learned NOT TO GO LOOK

After I play a machine I always leave that area. I cant watch someone else
play it after I put so much money in with nothing. I dont want to know what happens

Me too, opeth. I go all the way across the casino. I would just have a big fit if somebody sat down at a machine I was playing and hit the jackpot. I believe I would just beat my head on the floor.

I thought this was a good explantion of the
randomness of slots as opposed to "paying out"
after a certain amount has been played in. And
also the HOT/COLD machine Question. I highlighted the
important parts. I got permission to post this and it was from an
experienced player, not a casino

this question is asked and disputed and discussed and deconstructed and debated over and over again - when the truth is really really really simple and straightforward.
There are a number of combinations possible that a slot can display, each relating to a randomnly generated number. The more commonly occuring combinations pay the lowest amounts, the rarest combinations paying the highest amounts. Which number randomnly comes back from the server dictates what is displayed and how much you win or lose.
The "payout percentage" is based on the OVERALL play on a particular slot, which in turn is based on the expected delivery of random numbers over any given period of time. There is no 'memory', there is no functionality to adjust the slot to meet the expected percentage.
The shorter time you play a slot, the more variance in payout percentage you'll experience. Play one consistently for ten years every single minute of every single day and -- guess what -- you'll end up bang on the 95% (or whatever) it's supposed to be.
Check out the conspiracy arguments about play that relates to how much you've won or lost... or how a slot or table or wheel has performed in the past (or most recently video poker)
CASINO'S ADMIT THAT THERE IS A CONSIDERABLE HOUSE EDGE ON THEIR GAMES. AS A RESULT THEY MAKE MONEY. PERIOD. FULL STOP. THEY MAKE LOTS OF MONEY BASED ON THE GAMES PERFORMING AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO.
That's it.
