The BBC reports that a California man has been arrested for allegedly submitting at least $8m (£6.4m) in fraudulent coronavirus aid claims to the US government's relief program. Los Angeles County prosecutors in the U.S. state of California say Andrew Marnell used hundreds of thousands of the aid money to gamble at Las Vegas casinos.

Andrew Marnell has been charged with bank fraud for submitting bogus loan applications on behalf of multiple companies to claim Paycheck Protection Program funds from the US government which was supposed to help prevent layoffs during the pandemic. Marnell could face a prison sentence of up to 30 years if he is found guilty of the fraud charges.
