This sounds like the worst casino trip ever! I would have thought it was an April Fools Day joke, but the article was posted on March 31, 2010.
A woman at a Colorado casino, called Fortune Valley, played a 1 cent bet and the slot machine told her she won $43 million dollars. It was a technical error, so the casino gave her a free breakfast instead. OUCH!

Hey, I also intend to post an article about this news. Just went around and this article bumped into me. I dunno whether it was true or not? And I also dunno whether the casino can do that or not. But, in my opinion, it's the casino's fault, so they should pay her the money...

I believe there are technical errors...I've been there when the machines have broke. My sister got red sevens but it turned out to be an error. I do think they should have given her several hundred dollars for her heart failure at thinking she had won $43 MILLION and then not winning.
It's not the casino's fault, it was the machines fault. Things do break even new car...
Yes it sucks Big TIME, but stuff happens. It is posted on most machines, it will not pay if there is a technical error. We take a risk of winning and maybe not getting what we think due to an error.

Yah, you're rite, the casino doesn't need to have responsibility to pay the woman $43M because of the machine's fault, but it's better if they can pay her a little >'<

Im sure in a case like this the Casino Gambling Board comes in, and they really have the final say so? I don't think the casino itself could dispute the board, as they are non biased, right?

Cootsoup, Yes there is a gambling board that checks this sort of thing, like in Las Vegas. However, this particular slot had a maximum payout of no where near millions of dollars, so it was obviously a technical error. The details are in the original article, but as I recall the maximum win with full coins was a few thousand dollars... this lady put in 1 penny.
Still, I agree the casino should have been more generous and maybe given the poor lady more than free breakfast...
Maybe a few crisp one hundred dollar bills and a nice hotel suite for the weekend.
