Thanks."
Blackjack is said to have originated in France. This game is the favorite of gamblers, who like to play online games.
•The main goal of the game is to get as closer to 21 as possible, but at the same time the number should be better than the dealer, but not over 21.
•If the sum total of the cards in the player's hand exceeds 21 then they go busted.
•It is necessary for the player to have a better number than the dealer without being over 21. If the dealer has a number over 21 if he goes busted.
How is the hand value in blackjack assessed?
The value of the cards dealt to the players hands are added together with the values allotted as follows:
•All cards from 2 to 10 are valued at their face value. 2 has 2 points, 3 has 3 points and so on.
•All face cards like K, J, Q are valued at 10.
•Ace can be valued to be 1 or 11.
When is Ace valued as 1? Why is it known as a hard hand?
In cases where the Ace is valued 1, the hand is known as hard blackjack hand.
This is because if the player is going to calculate it with the higher value for ace the hand has a risk of going busted. To avoid the risk of going busted the hand is valued at 1.
Since the risk involved in making 21 without going busted, is hard with valuing 11 this is known as the hard hand and therefore the value for Ace in such situations is taken to the ace.
When is Ace valued as 11? Why is it known as a soft hand?
In cases where the Ace is valued 11, the hand is known as soft blackjack hand.
This is because if the player is going to calculate it with the higher value for ace the hand does not have a risk of going busted because the other cards have a low value.
Since the risk involved in making 21 by valuing the Ace at 11 without going busted is very less, this is known as the soft hand and therefore the value for Ace in such situations is taken to the ace.
The ace can be valued at 1 or 11 subject to the discretion of the player!
In our Blackjack game, the shoe consists of 6 decks.
A two card blackjack hand equal to 21 is better than a three card blackjack hand which equals 21.
The Game Proceeds
•Before having any hands dealt, the player is supposed to place a wager.
•After making the wager 2 face down cards will be dealt to the player.
•The dealer will be dealt with face down and face up cards.
•The face up card of the dealer will be visible to the players. The hole card of the dealer will be face down until the player completes his hand.
•After the players complete the hands, the dealer will turn the hole cards over.
•If the dealer has a hard total, he will stand.
•If the dealer has a hand less than 16, then he has to hit until his total is over 16 or bust means crosses 21. If the dealer has a soft 16, he hits.
•After the dealer completes these proceeds the hands are compared and the payouts are made accordingly.
Types Of Drawing Decisions In Blackjack
•Hit
•Stand
•Double Down
•Splitting
Hit: Hit is nothing but getting dealt with another card. If you require a hit, you will be dealt with another card. You can choose to hit if the total of your existing cards does not go above 10. Because, chances are less likely for you to loose because the highest number you can get in a new deal is 10 and you will not exceed 21 if you hit with an existing total or 10 or less.
Stand: Stand refers to not wishing to get any more cards, probably because the existing total of your cards is already more than 10 and you are likely at a risk for getting busted if you get one more card. If you click stand, it means you do not want any more cards and that you prefer to compare the ranks you have in your hand.
Double Down: After getting your first 2 cards, you can double your initial wager. And if you choose to double down you will be getting a third card and nothing more. You have to make your hand with the 3 cards you have.
Splitting: In cases where you get two cards of same value you can split your hand in to two different hands. For example Q, K is both valued 10 and you can split this hand and play each cards separately. If you get 8, 8 you can split it in to two hands and you can play each card separately. After you split your hand with similar value you will be dealt with a second card for one split, after you complete playing the hand the other card will be dealt to the other split card. After splitting, regular playing rules apply for each of the split cards and each split hand should be played like two separate hands.
You can double down on each of the split cards. For each split you make a new wager equal to the initial wager should be placed. 1:1 is paid for a split Blackjack hand as opposed to the normal 3:2.
Insurance In Blackjack
In cases, where the dealer receives an Ace for an initial card, then they have a huge possibility of making a Blackjack hand. In cases, where the player suspects that the dealer might have better odds with Ace, then the player can insure against the dealer's blackjack if they believe that the dealer's hidden cards can contribute to 10.
If you wish to insure, you have to pay half of the amount from your stake for insurance. If the dealer has a Blackjack, 2:1 will be paid by the insurance, which will be equal to your original stack. If you get the insurance and the dealer does not have the Blackjack then you loose your insurance.
The stake invested in insurance gets settled by whatever the dealer gets. So, insurance in Blackjack can be regarded as a game of its own. It is an additional parameter to play a secure game if the dealer has a blackjack; however, you loose money if the dealer does not.
Payoffs in Blackjack
The bets, which are won by the players when the value of their hand is higher than the value of dealer's hand without going over 21 leads to the payoffs.
•In cases where the player busts, then the dealer wins without turning over the card.
•Each hand making a total lower than the dealer will loose.
•Hands which have equal value with the dealer is a tie, or a 'push', and the original wager of the player will disappear from the table.
•The payout will be 3:2 instead of 1:1 if the player gets a Blackjack.
I found this page at Planet23, not sure whether they are the general rules though, TDTAT maybe you could say on that 1????
