Used to love it (when it was fun to share) Now couldn"t care less (married to a man who doesn"t care)

For myself, I don't love it....but it's fun for my son with parties and treats and exchanging valentine's cards with his friends, so for that reason I do like it.

I think Valentine's day is the one day of the year that you have the chance to make up for all the other days you may have taken your somebody special for granted.

This is going to sound like the strangest answer but I answered on the second page I hate it, but I actually like Valentines day, for the same reason I like Black Friday, Christmas, Memorial day, New Years Eve, the big shopping Holidays. Without these holidays a good amount of money wouldn't be spent and there would be a lot of stores out of business. When there is money spent it boosts the economy. Whether you know it or not the smallest things such as the amount of money spent on black Friday, are used as economic indicators like the unemployment numbers, the new and existing home sale figures, the ppi and cpi the producer and consumerr price index, which is a gauge of inflation, the % the us and especially this past year the euro zone bonds went for. I know this is meaningless to a lot of people, but the more positive indicators we get the closer we are to restoring the us and in essence global economy. Like I said it would be an odd answer, but if there was no stretch of heavy shopping from November till New Years and the holiday right before school starts (Labor day maybe?) without holidays like this a lot less people would have jobs. With less jobs and less spending there's less money generated in income, which leads to less money being taxed which creates a higher deficit, more people defaulting on credit cards and other loans. What caused the mess in the first place was giving credit such as mortgages to people with good credit without taking into account their debt to income ratio. This means that you could have co-signed a car loan, credit card, and phone bill with your parents and had good credit, and worked at McDonalds and gotten a mortgage or a high limit credit card, while at the same time you can be make 6 figures a year and 5 years prior filed for bankruptcy or defaulted on something giving you poor credit (Credit History lasts 7 Years) and you would have a harder time getting a mortgage then the kid at Mcdonalds with good credit. What a shock that a huge number of mortgages foreclosed and people defaulted on credit cards. This is why Banks needed bailouts, and what caused the credit crunch. Now they look at not only your credit history but your dti as well which is the sum of your bills over your income thus giving you your debt to income ratio. Its crazy how something so small can create so much problems but it does. So when you say holidays are superficial and meant for people to spend money, don't look at it as such a bad thing... but if my Valentines day date had a conversation with me about what I wrote I assume with most women it would only be Valentines day no celebrating with her at night lol
