I love the holidays but they can be very sad too at the same time. I try to remember those who have passed on and memories of Christmas's past. New yrs is a tough one too. But I always tell myself its a time for second chances, starting anew.

Christmas was the only time of year that I could be sure of seeing all my family together. I used to love it. We had such good times.
Since I moved away and now drive big rig, I haven't seen them for christmas for the last 6 years. I usually only get couple days at xmas off and with the usual winter weather/bad roads, can be hard to even get home.
So Christmas is usually a little melancholy for me, especially since we lost our youngest sister couple years back. Phone calls just don't cut it on Christmas. I resent the stress of trying to get all the shopping done while trying to work and the pressure of pushing so hard to get home on xmas eve.
Yes, I know I sound so bah humbug, but once I used to really love it. Now it's just a dreaded time of year, especially when you know it's only yourself and your daughter alone.

I love the season...I really get into the spirit of things when I see all the homes lit up with lights glowing on the snow...ahhhh...and can't forget the real reason I love the season...it's such a thrill watching the excitement in my granddaughters eyes when they are opening gifts..that is truly a joy...

Yes dear, I understand all that for sure. But I recently
lost my Dad and would give anything for a Christmas
with just me and him

Sorry for your loss TDTAT, and I know what you mean. At least we have our memories eh? I always take time at christmas to think of family passed..it does make me feel a little better oddly enough.
I'll make a real effort this year to be more positive and grateful for what I do have..and to pass on some Christmas cheer...much better to give eh?
