Remember that all the cords you use to charge things like cell phones,
continue using power if they are not unplugged.
These "vampires" use a lot of energy... even when you are not charging..
unplug them

Buy 3 or 4 huge bags with handles for your groceries. Take them to the store each time you go.
Do not use their plastic bags !!!

I use cloth diapers, besides being better for the planet and my son's bottom, they are less expensive than disposable, and as they are outgrown they make great car polishing rags.

Re-use the plastic bags you already have:
- Old bags make great in-car trash containers.
- Use them as shoe protectors in the garden.
- Re-use them to clean up kitty litter, or to pick up dog droppings when walking your pet.
- Use them in your smaller waste bins around the house.
- Fill a few with shredded paper and tie them off for cheap, reusable packing materials. They’re also a handy way to maintain the shape of your favorite tote.
- Cut a slit in your bags and use them to protect clothes from dust, moths, and other pests.
- Take them with you for easy disposal of diapers.

I am a Physical Science major and I am learning alot about our environment. There are so many great tips on this thread. My family and I recycle paper & plastic, I am constantly turning off lights and telling my children to do so as well...which brings me to my environmental tip.....
Inform your children about the status of our environment and make a conscious effort to include them in your efforts. Kids love to learn and science is such an important part of our world....Make it a family effort!

Most definitely we have to teach our children they are who are going to have to live in this world alot longer than we will and I know what and how I want my children to live, and so they must be taught. I know I have 2 of my children who are very wise to our environment and they do everything they can to save and conserve!!
