As I said, my B-day is the 3rd (usually celebrated on the 4th, which I think makes it relevant..ha). I was just a few minutes away from being a bicentennial baby back in '76.
I'd like to share how I spent my birthday and Independence Day this year.....
The morning of the 2nd, I woke up with a swollen lip. I had bitten it the night before and figured it had went deep enough to make it swell a bit. By midnight, I looked like a badly drawn caricature. My bottom lip was at least three times it normal size and my cheek and jawline looked like that of a bloated chipmunk hoarding nuts. Worst of all was the mouth ulcer that covered the inside of my lip and wrapped around the side and all along the crease where the gum and flesh meet. If I pulled my lip down, all you could see was yellow. Oh, and did I mention the excruciating pain. OMG...My mouth was on fire, I had shooting pain through my jaw and cheek and I thought any minute my face might explode. So, within the first hour of my birthday I was in the ER. Turns out I had cellulitis in my mouth and face. Yay me. The next few hours I spent hooked to an IV getting some potent antibiotics. At 6am, they came to tell me they were admitting me for at least 24 hours. Definitely not where I wanted to be on my birthday. Turning 42 is depressing enough, right???? The nurses were great though and brought me a cupcake and sang to me later that evening. My family came up with presents and spending time with them did make things a little better. Everything went well and they let me out on the 4th around noon. Needless to say, my 4th of July wasn't much to speak of either. I stayed in bed most of the day, with my bottles of antibiotics and pain pills close by. Thank goodness for hydrocodone!!! Ha! Today, I still have some pain through my jawline and most of the large mouth sore is still there and very bothersome but I am doing much better. Fortunately, my face has returned to it's normal size and shape.
But as I always say; "It could be worse!"
I do hope you all had a better holiday than I did!!!

My dog is pretty happy that July 4th is over. Hopefully that big steak bone made up for all that noise.

Thanks shirlsplay and keymast for the good wishes!!! The turnout was a little down due to the heat, as it was 40 celcius, and pretty uncomfortable. But still we had both some kids and some seniors turnout so given the temperature, it was an acceptable turnout!!! Expecting more people next week!!!

I just turned up the volume of the T.V so my cat wouldn't hear them.
