This was Emma's way of "proving " there was no Tom Foolery going on. Emma worked with the police as she had a friend on the force, and she helped bring in several of the usual suspects! For me, Emma ws the most interesting character in the family tree. She was way beyond her time and that was at a time when most women strove to be what was expected of them, rather than individuals. I think that was the hardest thing for Levi - mom said he was always trying to get her to act like a normal woman should! I am ever so glad that she didn't

Oh Tdat I know what you mean about the direct link between the number of family members and the number of nuts! As of this past week when another child was adopted, (by the widow of my nephew. they had begun the process about a year before Jason died) well anyway at the last count we were at 57 and I have a story or three about each and every one of them!lol!

My father -, tthe youngest of 3 sons was born when grandmam Maryy was 53! (Good Grief!) the middle son was Ike. He was the black sheep of the family. Alcoholic, always coming around to borrow from dad money dad would never see again. Well my stepmonster hated Ike- I mean pathalogically hated Ike. So one night Ike arrives unannounced the way some relatives do. My father had been headed for a wake and the stepmonster had been refusing to attend. Well when Ike arrived , Ruthmonster ran upstairs and rapidly readied herself for a wake. Then she came down, made Ike a drink strong enough to put down a cow, then left 14 yr. old me with him. (I told you she was a monster!) well Ike did manage to half empty the liquor cabinate by the time that witch finally came home. I immediatly went to bed because I had school in the a.m. Now here is the best part of this story: I leave the house for school the next morning, all bundled up because it was the middle of winter) and what should I find? Well Uncle Ike had apparently fallen and rolled under the pine trees where he lay snoring, covered in a blanket of frost!!! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed running back up stairs to awaken the stepmonster to inform her of this new developement and then beat feet out of there for school before she came to her usual senses and ordered me to stay home! Pay back...ain't it sweet?
