My Dad and I live in a very rural area where people like to dump their unwanted pets. So at any given time, besides the horse and my 2 large dogs we have a menagerie of cats and dogs until we find their owners (if they are lost) or find a home for them.
About a year ago somebody dropped off a beautiful, and very pregnant, kitty. Pop and her were instant soulmates, with the only problem being she is quite the little hussy. I don't think she finished having the last kitten from her first litter then she was in "the family way" again. And after having to find homes for 12 kitties,I had that little problem was fixed by an immediate vet visit. But whenever there are male strays you'll find her curled up next to them.
I wanted to name her Marilyn Chambers or Linda Lovelace, but Pop decided (due to his time in Hawaii during the war) to call her "Cumoniwannaleah" (come on I wanna lay ya). We just call her Leah for short.

My sister always seemed to be the "shelter" for hurt/abandoned neighborhood cats-
Hard to believe, but 1 day when she came home from work, there was a bloody hurt cat sitting on her welcome mat.
She, recognized it as the cat from next door, a young couple with a new baby- She knocked, they weren't home-
Perplexed, feeling sorry for it, she ran to emergency vet around the corner, they said hit by car, needed leg removed-
Unsure what to do, she said go ahead to save the cats life. Owners came home, told my sis, it's your cat now!!
They would of had it put to sleep they said. OMG!! My sis spent about $2000 on it and named it "TRI-POD"
Along with "BOB-EE" a cat who lost it's tail by a car, and a dog missing 1 eye named "LEFTY" she is an animal refuge-
