I don't use auto much, either. It seems to hit a lot less when I do use auto, but if I'm hitting really well and have to step away ( 
) then I will use auto for 10-25 spins.
But, then I seem to go on a losing streak after that. So, I try not to do it much. Dunno that it matters or not, though...this is just my opinion.
